Bangkok-Park-Lumpini Is Truly The “ Lung of Bangkok”. It Has Been Here For The Longest Time

Lumpini Park is truly the “ lung of Bangkok”. It has been here for the longest time, more than 50 years ago. It has quite a romantic sentiment attached to movie goers.

Thai movies made in the 50’s or even today use this Bangkok Park as a romantic setting where the leading stars would meet and enjoy the bicycle boat ride in the lake.

At other times, you would see them in the old Impala convertible going down the road in the park; something like in the old Elvis Presley movies.

Lumpini Park is about 900 x 800 meters and has about 2.5 kilometers of looping track.

The regular hardcore exercisers arrive at the park before 6 am in the morning. There are various exercise groups here; aerobics, Chinese ancient sword dance movement, yoga, walkers and runners. By 7 am, most of the group activities are finished and disbanded.

After that, some of them remain to have a morning coffee pick nick before leaving.

Here, over half of the exercise crowd are cosmopolitan; they are from the surrounding neighborhoods (Neighborhood I, II, IX.1,IX.2,IX.4.1). So, these neighborhoods are lucky to have close access to this Bangkok park.

Other activities are bicycle boat ride in the lake, canoe and regular boat paddling in the lake, playground for the kids, and simply sitting around and enjoy the morning air.
