Bangkok Sukhumvit 40 to 89 Neighborhoods - Be Selective

Overall, this neighborhood deserves a 3.0 rating.


Neighborhood VI - Bangkok


Sukhumvit 40,42,57


Let's start with Bangkok Sukhumvit 40. Sukhumvit Soi 40 is wide and there are two lanes fast traffic going into it. Thirty meters from the right entrance, you have a large condo construction site (should be done by 2008).


More large condo projects are under construction at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 42 and further down the Soi. Sukhumvit Soi 57 has a sidewalk fresh market at both sides of the entrance everyday. No condos worth considering here.


The first 150 meters of Sukhumvit Soi 59contains rundown warehouses. After that things get


better, where you have a large Korean restaurant on the right, a large condo under construction and a few more finished condos.


Sukhumvit Soi 61is a gem. It’s clean and quiet with lots of well groomed private homes, town houses, and a few condos. There are houses for rent here as well.


The atmosphere is quite residential. Sukhumvit Soi 63 is similar to Sukhumvit Soi 55 (more businesses) except it has 4 lanes and two ways. The Soi itself has its own side streets where you can find condos.




Neighborhood VII is 3.0 stars


Sukhumvit Soi 44 . Sukumvit Soi 42/1 and Sukhumvit Soi 46 do not have suitable condos that I like. Sukumvit Soi 44/1 has private homes, and a nice condo tucked away deep into the Soi. It is narrow, and not easy for pedestrian.


The entrance to Sukhumvit Soi 65 is not clean and I did not see anything I like here either. Sukhumvit Soi 67 is very narrow (two cars have difficulty passing each other)and difficult to walk.





Bangkok's Neighborhood VIII


It has a rating of 3.0.


Sukhumvit Soi 48_2 and Sukhumvit Soi 48/3 do not have suitable condos.


 Rama IV Rd.and Sukhumvit Rd. intersection has a a condo complex very close to Sukhumvit Rd. You have mostly businesses on this road in this area.


Sukhumvit Soi 50 looks much better than a few previous Sois in this area;due to the Lotus Department Store. There is a new condo construction near the entrance; it should be ready by 2009. Sukhumvit Soi 52 is right in the back of Lotus department store; you have a low cost condo here. Sukhumvit Soi 54 has lots of old wooden homes, some local government buildings and business offices.


Forget about Sukhumvit Soi 54/1 and Sukhumvit Soi 56 .


Sukhumvit Soi 58 is a nice surprise! There is a nice new condo complex (with retail shops) 30 meters from the entrance. You also have quite a few nice big homes and townhouses further down.


Sukhumvit Soi 69 start out with an abandon Post Office, some construction supply warehouse, and few barking stray dogs. I am passing this one.




Let's skip Sukhumvit Soi 69/1 . Near the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 71 , a new condo complex is coming up and should be ready by 2009 or beyond. This is a four-lanes business Soi.


Soi Sukhumvit 73 has a big techinal school; there's nothing I like here. Also forget about Sukhumvit Soi 75 . A surprise on Sukhumvit Soi 75/1 , you have a nice executive apartment. Sukhumvit Soi 77 is a very busy Soi and I did not see anything I like. You have congested older shops of all kinds here. Forget about Sukhumvit Soi 75/2 .


Sukhumvit Soi 79 is wide and clean enough and there's a condo complex there. Sukhumvit Soi 81 has some low cost condos. Sukhumvit Soi 83 looks private.


Nothing interesting at Sukhumvit Soi 85 and Sukhumvit Soi 87 .

Sukhumvit Soi 89 has a lot of older homes and no condos.


This Soi is nothing like Bangkok Sukhumvit 40.
