Getting A Bangkok-Telephone-Connection
Please follow the following steps,
1. Obtain and submit a Telephone Connection Form (Could be done online with TOT Corp. )
2. Wait for contacts from TOT.
3. Prepare necessary documents accompanying the Bangkok telephone connection request form such as a copy of Thai Citizen ID card (the apartment owner) together with his signature on the copy sheet.
4. For a corporate entity, you would need a copy of corporate certificate (not exceeding 90 days), a copy of Thai Citizen ID of the Managing Director or equivalence. Make sure all papers are stamped by the corporate seal as well as proper signature.
5. Bring all documents to the nearest TOT branch office on the appointment date.
You can send someone else to do this applicaion for you; an authorization to submit application letter is required (must include document stamps). You can also get more detailed information (in English) at TOT Corp. or at True Corp. Furthermore, apartment or condo owner can assist in this process, however it’s good to know the process before hand.
Getting An Internet Connection
The request is similar to getting a telephone connection, but easier because ADSL is like an additional services of the telephone. Getting a Cable TV
Usually you have the cable lines there already; you only need to call them up and activate the system. A set top box is usually required along with some deposits. Some times you do need to watch programs from certain countries that the existing cable company do not have; in that case, you need to install a dish antenna on the rooftop.
One caution, most apartment building do not like tenants installing their own antenna on the roof; so do get permission beforehand.
Apartment Repairs
The apartment manager would be the one to contact; they normally have a repair staff ready to fix most things.
For condo rental, the owner would have a repairman drop by you unit. Secondly, the building management also has a house staff to take care these things.
Maid Services
Again, the apartment manager is usually the one who has information on maid service. The building staff will do it on a part time basis on their day off, or the maid would be coming from outside. Make sure the manager really knows the person he is recommending to you.
Places to shop for Move-In Items
Then when you are somewhat settled in, you can explore Home Pro (something like Home Depot but has products with more well known brands). All the department stores also carry products for move-in items.
You can also try checking out some local shops like pharmacies and bakeries. Start with these two; they should be able to communicate with you.
