Getting to Bangkok By Air Is The Most Convenient
Getting to Bangkok Getting to Bangkok by air is the most convenient. There are a number of airlines from Europe, America, Australia and the Middle East servicing Bangkok. I travel by air to the US at least once or twice a year to visit my mother and sister in Palm Beach, Florida.
Traveling from the US Traveling time from Florida to Thailand is about 28 hours and this is with the best possible flight connections. Lately I use United Airline; it achieves this best traveling time. I do fly the economy class, and flying United is comfortable enough. United Airline is based in the US, so when travel from the US cities to Bangkok, you can get good connection from these cities using United’s international flights to Bangkok. Waiting times between flights are minimal, from over an hour to 3 hours. You can also get all boarding passes at the original city you embark from. This is an advantage of using a single airline throughout the trip. A while back I also used Northwest Airline. The service was not bad but the routing was not optimum; their hub is in Seattle Washington, (Alaska ?) So, if you fly from Bangkok to Tokyo, then Tokyo to Seattle,Washington, you are traveling too far north. That means it takes longer to get to Florida. United Airline’s hub is in Chicago. So, I travel from Bangkok to Tokyo, to Chicago. This is an optimum route to get to Florida and the Eastern Seaboard. I also use Evergreen Air (EVA), a Taiwan airline. This one has a very good in-flight service. However, their routing and connecting time are pretty long especially from Los Angeles to Florida. EVA has a contract with Delta or American Airline for US domestic flights. This means you have to wait a long while (over 4 hours) to catch a connecting flight to Florida from LA. You cannot get a Delta flight boarding pass in Bangkok. You can with United. See the differences? Another airline worth considering is Thai Airways. They have a direct flight from Bangkok to New York in 17 hours. If you live in New York and if you can stand a long stretch flight, this is the best deal. I have been on this flight and the in-flight service is good, however, I think the long stretch without any stop is too much for me. If you are not in the vicinity of New York City, you also need to check out the connecting flight weather it is convenient for you or not. Anyway, this flight is usually booked solid. Thai Airways have been talking about discontinuing this route, however Singapore Airline has similar route. You can get a direct flight from Bangkok to Singapore, and Singapore to NYC. Traveling From Europe Traveling from Europe to Thailand is less taxing; it only takes about 8 hours. I have traveled to Europe from Bangkok using Scandinavian Airline (SAS) and I liked its in-flight snacks. This flight left Bangkok at near midnight. So, I think an 8-hour flight is no big deal, especially comparing it to the US flight. There are many airlines serving this route as well. Traveling From Australia Traveling from Australia to Thailand is also no big deal; it takes about 6 hours and that just like from New York to LA.
