Henry Dunant Road has Siam Square...Oldest High Class Mall
Neighborhood XI - Henry Dunant Road, Phaya Thai Rd.
Henry Dunant Rd. (Off of Rama I Rd.)
At the north corner of this road, you have Siam Square, an oldest high class open mall (shopping arcade) in Bangkok. It has kept its charm and personality since its inception few decades ago.
Here, you’ll find Lacost, Pierr Cardin, Guy Laroche, Polo shops, other well known shops, a nice hotels, medical clinics, practically all the fast food places, and almost all local bank branches. This place is mostly frequented by teenagers especially students from the university.
| Further west on this road you have Chulalonkorn University, the most prestigious university in Bangkok and Chulalonkorn Hospital, one of the most noted as well. I had done my master of management at the university, part time. There’s no big condos or apartments here either, but it’s a nice area with Siam Square SkyTrain station nearby.
Phaya Thai Rd. (Corner of Rama I Rd.)
Proceeding west on Phaya Thai from this corner, you have Siam Square again. Beyond that, you have Chularlonkorn University on both sides; it situates on several street blocks.
And on the north corner of Phaya Thai Rd you have Maboonkrong (MBK) department store (similar to Kmart plus other shops). Here, you can find many souvenir items as well as other department store products.
This is also the main shopping drag for tourist and everybody else; it’s a nice area. There’s no condos or apartments on this block, but you do have a nice hotel here.
