Neighborhood XI - Phaya Thai Road, Rama I Rd.(West), Soi Kasem San 1,2

Phaya Thai Road & Corner of Rama I Rd.(East)

This corner is opporsite the eastside of Maboonkrong (MBK) department store; a Bangkok City Art Center is under construction and should be finished in late 2008. Proceeding north on Rama I Rd. you have local shops, large office buildings, an older condo, and a hotel.

MBK is a closed mall with lots of suvenir shops and fast food places.

On the west side of Rama I Rd., you have the National Statium, where many sports events are held; Michael Jackson was performing here over ten years ago.

As we’re moving southward on Rama I we will getting into the older section of Bangkok.

Soi Kasem San 1(Off of Rama I)

There’s a Pirelli tire store on the entrance of this Soi. This Soi has a few nice condos, a boutique hotel, and even some bed and breakfast places. The Soi is wide enough but the street vendors make it a bit narrower, but still passable.

It’s very convenient to stay in this Soi because you areclose to Maboonkrong (MBK), a notable department store; Discovery Place, another noted shopping center; and Siam Paragon, Bangkok’s newest luxury shopping mall.

This Soi is close to most things including the National Stadium SkyTrain Station.

Soi Kasem San 2

There are few condos here and one is very nice. You also have a few private homes, some companies, and a house museum.

The Soi is rather quiet, reasonably clean, not too much traffics, and you can walk in easily. The atmosphere is not exactly residential neighborhood, but I would not mind staying here.

It’s very close to the National Stadium SkyTrain Station.
