Neighborhood III - Rachadaphisek Road, Sukhumvit Soi 15,17,19
Sukhumvit Soi 15 (Soi=side street)
It looks quiet but does have a constant flow of traffic. I feel uncomfortable walking down the scant sidewalk there. There is a hotel near the beginning of the Soi; decent sidewalk in front of it.
Beyond the hotel (on the left side), I got very nervous walking down the street. If you use a car to come here then it’s OK.
On the main Sukhumvit Rd., you have Jaspal home collection (a home furnishing store) and Ethan Allen(a furniture store). There is also an Asia Books (a book store).
Sukhumvit Soi 17

| At the beginning of the Soi, you have Robinson, one of the major department stores in Thailand. I like this Soi. It’s quiet, short and reasonably clean. There is a nice condo and one Japanese restaurant here with a short walk to Asoke SkyTrain station.
Sukhumvit Soi 19

| The street gets widen and the sidewalk is widen too. We are back to a business Soi; Italian restaurant, hotels, a beauty salon, tailors, seamstress, apartments, Chinese restaurants, Seven Eleven, condos, a pub, a Family Mart ( convenient store).
Ratchadaphisek Rd (Asoke Rd)

North side (Corner of Sukhumvit Rd to Petchaburi Rd) High profile business establishments have their offices here and some have been here for over 20 years; Singha Beer House (Bavarian style), Sino-Thai (a prominent construction company), Ocean Glass (a well know glassware producer).
You have six banks including the only Islamic Bank of Thailand, four Seven Elevens, a Japanese Consulate.
Something old like the fresh fruit market and the Siam Society (Under Royal Patronage) have been on this street for the longest time too. The Siam Society was established over 100 years ago and the fresh market was over 50 years old as well.

A lot of something new here; plenty of new office high rises, a few condos and a famous eye care hospital(Rattanin). I had my eye examined there.
You have a BTS sky train and an MRT subway stations at the corner of Sukhumvit Rd., another MRT subway station at the corner of Petchaburi Rd. and a MRT subway at Rama IV Rd. This means this street has four rapid transit stations; a most convenient set-up.
This is a business district.
Rachadaphisek Rd., West side(Corner of Sukhumvit Rd. to Rama IV Rd.)

There is a concentration of high rise commercial offices at the corner of Sukhumvit Rd. Then 100 meters down the road you have a condo.
On the west side of the road you have Sirikit Convention Center with a wide open space; something like a park with a big lake. The sidewalk is wide and it’s not too far from the MRT subway Asoke station. The street is cleaned. Its ok to stay here, short or long term.
