Rama 9 Rachadaphisek Intersection, Rachadaphisek Road

Fortune Town has a hotel attached to a shopping center dominating the corner. It has been here over 15 years ago and has been doing well; the department store inside the shopping center changed from time to time. At present, Lotus is the main department store.

Rama IX MRT subway station is right in front of Fortune Town; so this gives you an alternative to shop for IT products ( IT City) instead of going to Pantip Plaza (quite a walk from the BTS SkyTrain station).

Fortune Town also has a large business building which houses large and small concerns.

I have not seen any decent condos or apartment that I like around here, but as mentioned, there should be more condo constructions coming very soon.


As you proceed northward on Rachadaphisek for another 1 km. from the Rama IX intersection, you run into a smaller shopping center, Esplanade. It is fairly new, just opened at end of 2006. It’s not too bad; more shops and well known fast food places are filling up the spaces.


Across the street from it, you have the Thailand Cultural Center where classical concerts are performed.

I had attended one session few years back, the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra was performing. It was good.

Right here you have an MRT subway station.

There is a serviced apartment in this area that does not look too bad, but I think we should wait until more new condo constructions come around. This area looks promising as a new business hub.
