An Upcountry Small Town School Kao Yai Has 270 Students Who Need Help
Upcountry Small Town School Kao Yai There are a number of small towns and villages around Kao Yai. Each of these small towns has a community public school supported by a limited budget from a local government.
Yesterday we visited this small town school. The school has been built and funded from the local government, donations from individuals and local community. For example, the 12 rais (one rai=1600 sqm.) plot of land to build this school were donated. The main building that houses grade 3-6 students is now 30 years old and in need of repairs. We were there because we were donating lunch to all students. It was a charitable trip and the weather was great. Normally during lunch, upper grade students (5-6) cook for all students. During lunch the school receives a small budget, enough to cook fried vegetable and vegetable soup. Although on Wednesday, the children get noodle dishes. Our menu items were pork and fish ball noodle dishes, pasteurized milk and ice creme. My wife was also getting her hands busy working in the kitchen.
At about 11:00 hr., kindergarten was the first group to start line up in front of our kitchen. There were about 25 odd students. They came with one bottle in their makeshift pocket and an anticipated face to pick up the noodle dishes. After they finished the noodle dishes, they came back for a box of pasteurized milk and raced toward two ice creme stands. All children love ice creme. Later on the upper grade students came for the meals and ice creme, and finally the teachers themselves. There were not enough noodle bowls for everybody at the same time, so those who finished must washed the dishes and returned to the kitchen right away.
We had enough food for everybody. They did enjoy this meal and gathered together in the old building to thank us. It felt so good to see gratitude in their eyes (270 students) when they shouted out thank you. This charity trip has brought us so much joy into our hearts so much so that, we plan do this again soon. So, do consider charitable trips to upcountry small town school Kao Yai. It could fill your hearts with joy.
